There was a candidate debate tonight at Luckan, held in English, arranged by Multicultural Finland and led by Michael Hutchinson-Reis. The event was addressed to voters with foreign backgrounds, asking Parliament candidates ”How do you (and your party) picture successful integration?”
Education and jobs as tools for a successful integration was mentioned by most candidates and discussed with the audience. The Left Alliance and SDP followed SFP-RKP ideas of tax relief for employers, mostly concerning small businesses, as a way toward work related integration. Muutos called the Finnish-speaking Finns oppressed in their own country, and presented a falsified medieval history, with made up power structures, somehow connected to contemporary Finland.
However, the atmosphere was overall good and the panel discussion was followed by some mingling and networking. All parties in Finnish Parliament had been invited, (also Muutos 2011 and the Pirate Party).
